Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Burner
Fill your heat-proof bowl with a small layer of sand or ash to absorb the extreme heat.

Step 2: Light the Charcoal
Hold the charcoal disc with metal tongs. Hold a flame to it until it sparks, crackles, or glows red.

Step 3: Wait for Ash
Place the charcoal on the sand. Wait 5 to 10 minutes until a layer of gray ash covers the entire disc.

Step 4: Add a Heat Buffer (Recommended)
Place a small square of aluminum foil directly on top of the hot ash-covered charcoal. This prevents the delicate leaves from instantly scorching.

Step 5: Apply the Leaves
Sprinkle a small pinch of crushed leaves onto the foil (or around the edges of the charcoal). Do not dump a large pile at once.

Step 6: Refresh and Extinguish
When the aroma fades or smells burnt, scrape off the old leaves and add a fresh pinch. Let the coal burn out and cool completely for several hours before discarding.
